What is Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy?

CBH combines the evidence-based therapies of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Hypnotherapy to provide a powerful and effective integrated therapy. It works by changing the way you think about yourself, your life and your surroundings . Through hypnosis, in which a deep state of relaxation is usually experienced, the creative part of your mind is able to focus on and absorb positive suggestions given by the therapist for effective and long-lasting solutions. CBH is proven to generate fast results; using clear goals you will be able to measure your progress and notice positive changes taking place in a short space of time. The British Medical Association and the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) both recognise the therapy. Following various evidence-based studies, NICE have concluded that of psychological treatments for anxiety and depression, CBT is the overall treatment of choice. They have also validated hypnotherapy as an evidence-based treatment of IBS, recommended equally with CBT.

Very strong research shows that when hypnotherapy is combined with CBT, the resulting treatment is significantly more effective than CBT alone.

I chose Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy for a number of reasons: many clinical research studies have been undertaken and show that it is a safe and effective treatment; it deals primarily with the symptoms that you are experiencing now, and working on these, looks to the future, rather than focusing on the past; ... and it worked for me! I personally managed to endure a long and what would otherwise have been a painful, induced labour, through the use of self-hypnosis, whereby I needed no medical pain-relief.

CBH has been proven to be highly effective in the treatment of a wide range of conditions and disorders, including the following:

    I will work with you from the initial consultation to establish a treatment plan tailored to your needs, including the number of sessions, the frequency and cost. The number of sessions required to achieve your goals will vary depending on the issue(s) presented, however using the clear goal-focused strategies of CBT, we will be able to measure your progress against these as part of a regular review process.

    A session will normally be one hour, including consultation time, at a cost of £60.

    What is Hypnobirthing?

    Join me on this empowering programme, which aims to remove the fears commonly associated with childbirth and put YOU back in control of this amazing experience.  Clinical research has shown that confident, relaxed mothers have better birth outcomes.

    During the Fertility2Birth programme, you will learn how to relax using hypnosis, which you can then use during labour if you so choose.  When in hypnosis, you can still think, feel and behave as normal.  It also enables you to take control of your birth experience and can help reduce the need for medical intervention.

    Using hypnosis to help with childbirth has been shown to reduce the first stage of labour by hours, and the second stage from an average of 50 minutes to 37 minutes.

    Following our programme, you can learn these hypnosis skills in a relaxed environment, giving you time to practise them and feel completely comfortable before needing to put them to use.  For first-time Mums, or those with previous birthing experience, whether you’re planning a birth at home or within a hospital/birthing centre environment, the information and skills given on this programme will be invaluable to any Mum-to-be.

     

    A Little Bit About Me....

    I am a fully qualified and experienced hypnotherapist and complementary therapist.  It is my own childbirth experience that has driven me to share this wonderful opportunity with others.  I used self-hypnosis during my labour, which, as well as keeping me extremely relaxed, meant I didn’t need any pain relief.  I was fully aware of what was happening but felt in control and able to liaise confidently with the medical staff.  I believe that every mother should be able to have the birth experience they choose and this programme lets you gain that control.
